What is UV-C Sterilisation of PPE?

To achieve this, we employ cutting-edge UV-C sterilisation process to disinfect our entire range of products.
UV-C is a proven sterilisation process that works by destroying the DNA of microorganisms and viruses, thereby killing them and preventing their spread. UV-C has been extensively used for decades at hospitals and medical facilities to ensure a clean environment by disinfecting surfaces and medical equipment. It is a physical sterilisation process that does not require the use of any chemical. It is safe and widely used in many applications including for the purification of air and water.
Ultraviolet (UV) light is a range of electromagnetic waves with shorter wavelengths than visible violet light. It is divided into three types with reducing wavelengths and increasing energy: UV-A (325–400nm), UV-B (280–315nm) and UV-C (100–280nm). Of these only UV-C provides sufficiently high amounts of energy to destroy microorganisms and viruses.
Why Individual Wrapping of PPE?
While bulk-packaged products may be suitable for ordinary use, PPEs and in particular face masks for medical use need to be sterile to prevent possible cross-contamination. From the manufacturing facility to the hands of the end-user, essential PPEs must remain contamination-free.

How do I select a face mask that really protects me?
It can be a daunting task to select a face mask that offers effective protection against bacteria, virus and harmful airborne particles. With so many brands and types of face masks available for consumers—often from unknown origins with dubious conformity to international health standards—you really need to know what makes an effective face mask.
Five key areas matter most—particulate matter filtration rating (PM); bacterial filtration efficiency (BFE); particulate filtration efficiency (PFE); fluid resistance (FR); and microbial-free status.
Particulate matter filtration rating (PM) is measured in microns. Our disposable surgical masks provide protection from particles that measure 0.1 micron in size, hence a rating of PM0.1. For reference, typical hair diameter is 50 microns while typical bacteria width ranges from 0.2 to 1.0 micron. Therefore our PM0.1 rating provides effective protection against bacteria, virus and harmful airborne particles.
Bacterial filtration efficiency (BFE) and particulate filtration efficiency (PFE) are measured in percentages. BFE rating indicates the percentage of bacteria larger than 3 microns filtered out by the face mask. PFE rating indicates the percentage of particles larger than 1 micron filtered out by the face mask. Our disposable surgical face masks provide ≥98% efficiency in filtering out bacteria and airborne particles. For reference, surgical environments require face masks with BFE/PFE of at least 98%.
Fluid resistance (FR) rating indicates the resistance of a face mask to penetration by fluids at a given velocity. Our face masks have FR ratings of 80 mmHg and 120mmHg, thereby meeting standards for surgical use.

Whether it’s the seasonal influenza or the COVID-19, ensuring personal health and safety requires discipline and some common sense. The viruses are believed to spread from person-to-person through virus-laden droplets—generated when an infected person speaks, coughs or sneezes—which then enter the upper respiratory tract of persons nearby. Transmission may also occur from direct and indirect contact with virus-laden droplets that land on surfaces, picked up by the hands and then enter the body when one rubs the eyes, nose or mouth.
One of the most important preventative actions you can take to avoid infection is to maintain social distancing. The World Health Organisation (WHO) advocates that we keep a distance of one metre from others to reduce the likelihood of inhaling virus-laden droplets generated by an infected person. Hence the importance of keeping away from crowds especially in enclosed spaces.
WHO also recommends we avoid touching our eyes, nose and mouth with our hands since they touch many surfaces and can easily pick up viruses. For this reason it is important to practise good hygiene and wash our hands frequently with soap and water or to use alcohol-based hand rub in order to kill viruses that our hands pick up.
According to WHO, the use of masks is part of a comprehensive package of prevention and control measures that can limit the spread of certain respiratory viral diseases, including COVID-19. Masks can be used either for protection of healthy persons (worn to protect oneself when in contact with an infected individual) or for source control (worn by an infected individual to prevent onward transmission).
Wearing a mask when in public, especially in crowded spaces, is an important practice. As there is a high percentage of persons infected with COVID-19 who are asymptomatic, it is therefore important for everyone to be wearing a mask when outside the home.
